Solo Insurance® would like to make people aware of an announcement that was released from the Hyundai Motor Company, February 14, 2023 (https://www.hyundainews.com/en-us/releases/3768).
Many are probably aware that there has been a growing theft problem in the U.S. regarding Hyundai vehicles, even in such states as Arkansas, Iowa and Oklahoma. This has impacted the rates for this brand of vehicle, causing them to go up. It also affects the brand’s acceptability with a few insurance companies (who are currently declining to write them with physical damage or at all).
For communication purposes, Solo Insurance® is sharing this information with anyone who may own a Hyundai (we are still able to write coverage for them). The press release headline:
“Hyundai Introduces Free Anti-Theft Software Upgrade, Beginning With More Than 1 Million Elantras, Sonatas and Venues”
To summarize their release: “in response to increasing thefts targeting its vehicles without push-button ignitions and immobilizing anti-theft devices in the United States, Hyundai is introducing a free anti-theft software upgrade to prevent the vehicles from starting during a method of theft popularized” on social media channels.
